Casuarina cunninghamiana

River Sheoak, River Oak

The largest of our available Sheoaks, native to fresh watercourses of north and east of Australia.

Features: Dense, pendulous foliage. Adaptability.
Applications: Streetscapes, screening, native landscapes
Description The River Sheoak is a medium-sized tree that occurs naturally along the banks of freshwater streams and rivers and adjacent flats, commonly in sands, gravels and occasionally limestone. It is used very successfully in streetscapes and landscapes, often planted in attractive clusters or as screening, utilising its dense foliage and narrow habit to good effect. The River Sheoak is very suited to native landscaping, where its soft pendulous clumps of foliage are well-suited. Adaptable to a variety of sites and poor soils, it can also tolerate comparatively dry sites. Responds well to structural pruning.
